Many of us are familiar with the concept of New Year’s Resolutions. Some people look forward to change and challenge, and some let the calendar page turn without any fuss at all. For those of us to do make resolutions, sticking to them can sometimes be tough – but it doesn’t have to be! If your aim is to build a healthy lifestyle, start by taking it one step at a time.
To help you take that first step this new year, the Findlay Family YMCA is waiving join fees for the month of January! If you look at the rates on their website, it is the ‘FEIF’ fees that are waived – saving you up to $70! For those of you who fall between 18-26 years of age, there is another opportunity for savings. The new Young Adult membership category offers a monthly fee of almost half off a standard adult rate. Youth and family rates are also available. The fastest growing group of YMCA are older adults, and the Y is the perfect place for active older adults.
For YMCA members, sticking to your health and workout plan doesn’t have to be a daunting task, thanks to ActivTrax. This program, which is free to members, can provide a unique nutrition and fitness plan, and guidance or change to your workout. Development and Special Events Director, Jennie Treece, explains “All it takes is one appointment to get set up. After that, you can use the app or the kiosk in the Wellness Center.” Read more about ActiveTrax here.
Another way to make sure you’re sticking to your routine is by signing up for a class. By signing up for classes, you’re making yourself accountable, and committing to the program. The Y offers classes for all levels! With a membership, some classes are free, while others have a small fee. The instructors high-energy instructors are ready to help you on your fitness journey, and give you a great workout.
Kids also have something fun and new on offer at the YMCA. The Youth Physical Activity Center (known as Y-PAC) offers several fun interactive exercise opportunities. There’s a bicycle-powered X-Box system (it can accommodate 2 players), a rock wall, games to test your reflexes and dexterity, and more. Read more about Y-PAC in this January 9th Courier article.
Potential new members have until January 31st to sign up for a $0 join fee.
