Stories of masked clown sightings seem to be everywhere these days, and one Facebook post about Findlay gained a lot of attention this past weekend. The report circulating on Facebook states that a man dressed as a clown was hit by a truck just outside of town, but this appears to be false.

The photo used in the Facebook post seems to originally be from THIS article out of Memphis, Tennessee about a bicycle hit-and-run in August of this year.
With over 2,000 shares on Facebook as of Monday, this has caused quite a stir in Findlay, making people concerned about these mysterious people in the area. The closest report of these clowns has been out of Fostoria, where parents of Fostoria Intermediate Elementary students were warned of possible threats made on Facebook. The Courier details this report here.
The sudden appearance of these masked clowns around the country has a lot of people on edge. It all could be harmless Halloween-inspired fun, but the masks provide anonymity which could be harmful if an actual crime is committed. While we haven’t seen an official report of clowns in Findlay, it’s always best to stay alert and be aware of your surroundings.

UPDATE 9/28/2016

This message from the Findlay Police Department was posted on Facebook to address these rumors:
