Jack-B’s, located at 124 E. Sandusky Street, opened on their doors on March 19th for a soft opening period. The grand opening and ribbon cutting will take place April 30th from 2-4pm.

The owners, Brenden & Sherrie Butler, both love being part of downtown Findlay’s local restaurant scene. Both had manufacturing and corporate jobs before leaving those behind to start their own family venture. With Brenden’s 20 years of restaurant management experience, and Sherrie’s quality control background, their combined efforts all come together to make a great experience at Jack-B’s.

The story behind the restaurant’s name, and how it got its start, is bittersweet. Brenden was about to open the doors of a brand new restaurant in Fort Myers Beach, Florida. Just before it opened, he found out that his father, Jack, was dying of cancer in Findlay. Family comes first to Brenden, so he backed out of the business to drive 17.5 hours all the way to Findlay – a trip he remembers vividly. Once he was back in town, he needed to find a job, so he took up a manufacturing position. Sherrie is happy he chose that field, because it gave them the chance to reconnect after 20 years, and eventually marry.
Brenden is thrilled to be back in the restaurant business. “For me, it’s been a dream. This is my passion. This is my love. This is what makes me happy every day. Talking to the people who come in and tell us their stories, and tell us how much they love their food – that’s what makes it worthwhile for me.”

Because they both know so many people in Findlay, Sherrie describes that “it’s like a reunion every day.” Old friends and new repeat customers constantly walk through the door. Even colleagues from the company Brendan left to start the restaurant stop in regularly. They were also willing volunteers back during the taste-testing stages.

So, what’s on the menu? Their homemade chicken chunks with Memphis-style barbecue sauce and fries have been a big seller. They have always been a staple in the Butler household. They’ve sold out of Sherrie’s homemade cookie dough and peanut butter buckeyes every week since opening (FYI 24 hours’ notice is required for orders of over a dozen). Better yet, why not go in, pick up a menu, and decide for yourself!

The restaurant is open from 10:30am-8pm Monday-Friday. The door says 11-2 and 5-8, but you can order any time from 11-8. Due to size, dining in is not an option. A convenient online ordering system allows you to pickup your food without having to order inside and wait. And it means the office can order, come in, pick it up, and leave all together. Make sure to follow them on Facebook to stay up-to-date with specials and news!
