Local nonprofit organization, LGBTQ+ Spectrum of Findlay, will present a night of dinner, camaraderie, and comedy at “Chuckle for a Cause.” Tickets are going quickly for the October 12th fundraiser at the Hancock Hotel.

Spectrum’s most recent large-scale fundraisers have been murder-mystery events. This year, they were interested in changing things up. Board secretary, Dr. Jasmin Bradley, explains that “Laughter is the best medicine, so we thought we’d go down that avenue.” Ctrl-Z, a sketch comedy group, will open for headliners, Downstairs Improv. Both groups hail from Northwest Ohio.

Also new to this year’s event is a plated dinner, and brief presentation. The comedy show will begin after both are finished. “As much as it’s a fundraiser, it’s a celebration of everything that we’ve put this effort into, showing the community what this is all about,” said Bradley. Presenters will look back at the year, celebrate successes, and showcase the population the group serves.

Spectrum would like the event to become a regular fixture on the local calendar. Part of its planned growth will see inclusion of the organization’s annual awards at next year’s edition.

Tickets should be purchased as soon as possible as the event is quickly approaching. You can get your general admission seats, or an entire table, here.

Spectrum was founded in 2010 to build a network for the local LGBTQ+ community by providing resources, social events, services, and support. Visit their website to learn more, or get involved.
