The Findlay Art League (FAL) has provided a gallery and work space to local artists since 1947. They also offer a variety of classes throughout the year, which are open to the public. Their summer schedule has just been released, and it features classes for kids and adults. Many of the instructors, and other member artists, have work available for purchase in the FAL gift shop.
The Findlay Art League is a local non-profit open to anyone over age 18 who is interested in art, whether you are an artist, or not. Meetings take place the first Monday of the month (excluding holidays, in which case the meeting is the following week). You can download a membership form online, and deliver or mail it to the FAL. In addition to classes, the FAL is also available to rent for events. Contact them for more information, and follow them on Facebook.
- One Saturday a month, kids ages 6-13 can make something fun and colorful with FAL president, Kathryn Strong. With a degree in art education, Kathryn is passionate about teaching the next generation of artists. Adults can come to her acrylic painting class in late July.
- Experienced sculptor, Eliseo Escobedo, will offer a 5-week ceramics class for adults. The classes will be available Tuesday or Thursday evenings starting in mid-July. The classroom has new equipment, and ‘fired’ up to start this new class.
- Laura Barnhardt Corle, an award-winning photorealist watercolor artist, offers an 8-week class on Thursdays. There are both afternoon and evening times available to fit your schedule.
- Columbus College of Art & Design grad, Sherwin Quiambo, will teach a 5-week intro to digital art. If you are interested in learning some new skills on your iPad, this is the class for you.
- Social Findlay’s own Ashley Donaldson teaches private ballroom dance lessons through the FAL. Individuals, couples, and groups are all welcome to learn. If you have a wedding coming up, or just want to improve your moves, get in touch.
