Founded in 2012, Findlay Young Professionals (FYP) offers professional development and social opportunities for people aged 21-45 who live and work in the Findlay area. Social Findlay spoke with the current FYP board president, Mike Knoll, to get some more insight into the organization.

“We focus on developing leadership skills, volunteering, and networking,” Knoll explained. This reflects the nonprofit’s three pillars: “Connect. Impact. Lead.” 2-3 events are scheduled per month. Representatives from other area not-for-profits are invited to speak briefly before scheduled events. Community speakers are featured at quarterly leadership events.

Knoll emphasizes the group’s desire to bring people together. “Ultimately our goal is to give people a sense of a community. We try to be the first welcome to Findlay [for people who move to town for work], and try to retain talent in the community.”

FYP is funded entirely through  memberships and corporate sponsors. Membership fees are $50 with members receiving a discount card to local businesses, shirt, and free entry to many FYP events.

All are invited to the FYP’s annual kickoff event on Thursday, February 7th at the Findlay Country Club. This is their biggest event of the year, so you can expect plenty of time for networking – and plenty of door prizes! Get to know the organization, speak with members, and hear from guest speakers. Marathon’s Don Templin and the United Way’s John Urbanski will speak and present. Register to attend here.
