Kelsey Heitkamp Interior Design, KHID, has been revamping 115 E. Crawford Street for the past several months. On June 1st, the studio will hold a grand opening event. While Heitkamp has been on the Findlay design scene for 13 years, she is excited to be moving into a designated storefront in the heart of downtown. Findlay residents may recognize some of her projects such as The Bourbon Affair, the newly-remodeled back room at Legends, Fireside Brick Oven Pub & Grill, Japan West, Gateway Church, Findlay Med Spa & Women’s Care, and the Global Technology Center at Cooper.
The new design studio not only showcases Heitkamp’s design capabilities, but also features a casual (and comfortable) meeting space in the front room. The back room is setup with a tall table and chairs, and showcases flooring and other finish options. Kelsey’s husband, Brad, is a residential contractor with Heitkamp Homes. Many of his commercial and residential projects utilize some of the flooring options available through KHID.
Potential clients can meet with Heitkamp at any stage of a new construction or remodeling project. However, she did recall one client who noted, “one of the things I learned was that I should have brought you in way earlier.” The earlier Heitkamp can get to know and become familiar with a project, the more in-tune she is with the client’s expectations and taste, and the needs of the space itself.
KHID specializes in commercial, corporate, and hospitality design. The business offers full service interior design, space planning, flooring, wall covering, and furniture packages. Before starting KHID, Kelsey worked for a local architectural firm. Although she is now on her own, she continues to work alongside architects and contractors.
Heitkamp feels at home at a location in the heart of downtown. “After having been a part of designing renovations for numerous downtown businesses, I’m thrilled to open this design studio in the midst of them all. I love running into former clients on a regular basis.”
The studio is open by appointment.
