September is National Recovery Month. Mayor Lydia Mihalik issued proclamations declaring it Recovery Month and Suicide Prevention here in Findlay. According to recoverymonth.gov, “(Recovery Month) is a national observance held every September to educate Americans that substance use treatment and mental health services can enable those with a mental and/or substance use disorder to live a healthy and rewarding life.”
Many special events will be taking place throughout town to bring awareness and support to the community. Some of the big events coming up include the Ride for Recovery and the Recovery March – both on the 15th. Film screenings will take place on the 12th, 19th, and 26th.
Beyond this month’s special events, Social Findlay’s calendar can be searched by event type. One category is “Health/Wellness“, which includes a variety of well-being-centered events such as yoga and dance classes to support groups.
