In 2010, Fostoria’s St. Wendelin elementary students were moved into the high school building due to low enrollment. Now, citing mold and structural issues, the 300 N. Wood St. elementary school building is to be demolished. Repairs to the building were estimated to be $1 million, compared to $100,000 for demolition costs.
A goodbye ceremony will be held Saturday, October 20 at 4pm. There will be a Mass at 4:30, followed by a spaghetti dinner. Bricks will be made available for community members to pick up a memento.
St. Wendelin high school closed because of financial strain after the class of 2017 graduated.
